Returning to the Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County after several years, pianist Alan Mallach will present a recital featuring compositions by Viennese composers of the 19th and early 20th centuries on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 2PM.

 

Admission is $15 for Museum members, and $20 for non-members.

 

A composer, pianist, and opera scholar, Mallach studied piano with the late Michael Field and composition with Paul Ben-Haim, Donald Martino, and Richmond Browne. While pursuing a distinguished career as a city planner and urbanist, he has continued to perform solo and chamber music, including a number of years as the pianist in the Ellarslie Trio. His compositions include Parables for the Theater, performed in 2014; he has authored two widely read books on 19th and 20th century Italian opera, Pietro Mascagni and his Operas (2002;) The Autumn of Italian Opera (2007;) and written program notes and essays for many opera companies in the United States and Europe.
